For years now, Drake has been enjoying a level of fame that few have ever tasted, and even fewer ever will. He is the emotional rapper, the Canadian gem, the most famous Rihanna stan in the world, and the mentee who outsold all his mentors.

On October 22, Drake revealed that he would be dropping a new album with 21 Savage, but they took quite an unconventional approach to promoting their upcoming record. The announcement was followed by a week of comedic skits and fake press shared by the two rappers, including fake Vogue covers, interviews with Howard Stern, and 21 Savage's "what's in my bag" feature for GQ. Drake has been openly anti-press in recent years which might explain his choice to satirize the usual publicity stops most artists hit in the run-up to an album drop.

The official release was delayed by a week due to one of the producers coming down with COVID-19, but 'Her Loss' finally went live on November 3. Travis Scott is the only other rapper to feature on the album apart from Drake and 21 Savage, although the track 'Circo Loco' samples Daft Punk's 'One More Time.' Another artist who gets a "special mention" on the album, is Megan Thee Stallion. In 'Circo Loco,' Drake says, "This b**** lie about getting shot but she still a stallion," referencing her accusation that rapper Tory Lanez shot her in the feet in 2020. Lanez is currently under house arrest awaiting trial. The 16-track album is sure to stir up some controversy, but is being praised by Drake fans as some of his best work.

The rapper can seemingly do no wrong! He has eight no. 1 albums, broke records set by the Beatles and Jay-Z, and he's the first artist to ever surpass 50 billion streams on Spotify. He is a record label founder, a permanent fixture in pop culture, and he's also shaping up to be a hit TV and film producer. But just two decades ago, Drake was just Aubrey Graham, a washed-up child actor who was considering getting a regular job.
