We all tell lies—it's just part of being human. And, of course, celebrities are no exception. Some of their lies, however, do have a much bigger impact, because they obviously reach (and often affect) a lot more people. And while lying about your temporary lip fillers might not be a big deal, lying about drug use, plagiarism, and adultery might just be a bit more serious!

Suki Waterhouse -

Suki Waterhouse only harmed a few heads when she lied about using Coca-Cola to wash her luscious blonde locks. Speaking to Us Weekly in 2015, the British model and singer said, "I rinse my hair with Coca-Cola sometimes." She added, "I don't like my hair when it's washed—it's fine and limp—but Coca-Cola makes it tousled, like I've gone through the Amazon or something."

The hot tip apparently stuck in some fans' minds, as one asked Waterhouse on November 4 whether she still prefers soda over shampoo. The star decided, seven years after the fact, to come out with the truth. "Ok.. i have to be honest, i got bored doing hair interviews and said this. i have never done this ma'am [sic]," she tweeted. She also subsequently shared a screenshot of a Bustle article written by Jessica Booth in which she described how she tried Waterhouse's cola method. "I did Jessica dirty," the 30-year-old confessed.

Jussie Smollett - In 2019, actor Jussie Smollett made headlines after reports that he had been the victim of a horrifying homophobic and racist attack. He had allegedly been beaten by two men who also tied a rope around his neck. A week later, the investigation took a shocking turn and it was Smollett who was arrested. Evidence surfaced that he had orchestrated a staged attack with the help of two extras from his show ‘Empire.’ He was eventually charged with five counts of disorderly conduct for lying to the police, and sentenced to 150 days in jail, although he was released almost immediately pending an appeal.

Britney Spears -

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were the "it" couple of 1999 when they started dating. Spears was just 19 years old and under immense pressure to maintain a public image that was both sexy and innocent. This was difficult when every TV and radio interviewer was asking her if she and Timberlake were sexually active. "The virginity issue. It's a personal decision and it reflects how I feel right now about myself. There are so many emotions involved that I would like to be able to wait until I know I'm with the right person and I'm married," she told the Daily Star.

Timberlake, however, didn't have as much at stake, and revealed that they had in fact been sexually active. Spears addressed his confession years later, saying, "It was two years into my relationship with Justin. And I thought he was the one. But I was wrong. I didn't think he was gonna go on Barbara Walters and sell me out."

Famed musician and composer Jonny Greenwood revealed that, when he first joined Radiohead, he would turn his keyboard off and pretend to play during rehearsals. "Thom [Yorke]’s band had a keyboard player—[whom] I think they didn’t get on with because he played his keyboard so loud. And so when I got the chance to play with them, the first thing I did was make sure my keyboard was turned off," he admitted. "They made quite a racket, quite a noise.
