Ana de Armas famously stars as Marilyn Monroe in the Netflix biopic 'Blonde.' She opened up about pushing her boundaries as actress for this once-in-a-lifetime role in an interview with Variety. “I did things in this movie I would have never done for anyone else, ever,” de Armas said of her naked scenes. “I did it for her, and I did it for Andrew," she revealed, speaking of Monroe and the movie's director, Andrew Dominik. 

While she doesn't regret her more risqué scenes, de Armas did express disgust at the thought of what will become of those scenes, which inevitably end up circulating the internet out of the context of the film. "It’s upsetting just to think about it. I can’t control it; you can’t really control what they do and how they take things out of context. I don’t think it gave me second thoughts; it just gave me a bad taste to think about the future of those clips," she lamented.

Amanda Seyfried -

Amanda Seyfried knows her boundaries now, but she didn't back when she was starting out in the industry. Making her on-screen debut as a teenager in the early 2000s was difficult alone, but it was also a time before proper standards were in place. Speaking with Porter magazine, the actress admitted that while she came out of it “pretty unscathed,” she did have to some uncomfortable situations. “Being 19, walking around without my underwear on—like, are you kidding me? How did I let that happen?” she explained. “Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn’t want to upset anybody, and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.” Thankfully now she has the confidence she needed back to get herself out of those situations, feeling "a respect level that I have never felt so fully around me,” which  is not because of her critical acclaim, she says, but rather "because I’m 36 years old, and I know who I am.”

Minka Kelly -

'Euphoria' has drawn a lot of attention for its nudity (often of teenage characters), and now Minka Kelly, who entered the HBO drama on its second season, is the third actress to come forward and express that she felt uncomfortable about a naked scene and asked show creator Sam Levinson to cut it.

Kelly plays rich young mom Samantha who asks her babysitter Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie) to unzip her dress in her very first scene. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kelly revealed that Levinson"thought it would be more interesting if my dress fell to the ground,” adding that she wasn't told about the scene beforehand and was only given "vague" information about her character. "That was my first day as a guest on this new show, and I just didn’t feel comfortable standing there naked,” she said.

Fortunately Kelly said she expressed to Levinson that they could do the scene while keeping her dress on and he agreed without hesitation. Still, Kelly's comments echo that of two other actresses on the show. Chloe Cherry, who plays fan-favorite character Faye, revealed that Levinson initially wanted her to be “completely naked” throughout her first scene with on-screen boyfriend Custer (Tyler Chase) but she didn't feel comfortable and the scene was cut after Chase actually expressed his discomfort. “We just met and said, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and then shot the scene,” Cherry said. “It probably would’ve been more comfortable had we had a little more time to know each other." And then there are Sydney Sweeney's comments...

Sydney Sweeney -

Sydney Sweeney praised 'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson for letting her cut unnecessary naked scenes from the second season, which features a lot more nudity than the first. Speaking to The Independent, Sweeney said, “There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it.’ I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a [naked] scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me." Unfortunately she said she's had different experiences in the past that left her feeling "disgusting" because she "didn’t feel comfortable" or like it was necessary. However, Sweeney also criticized viewers of 'Euphoria' for talking more about her nudity than her performance, noting that there's a difference in how people look at her performance of Cassie versus how people look at her performances  in other projects like 'White Lotus' or 'The Handmaid's Tale' where she is not naked. She called out the “stigma against actresses who get naked on screen,” noting, “When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and gets praise. But the moment a girl does it, it’s completely different."
