Epilepsy is a very common condition and SUDEP, which is associated with it, is the most common cause of death for those who suffer from it. It's estimated that 1.2% of Americans have active epilepsy (3.4 million people). SUDEP, which stands for sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, is very poorly understood and happens to around one in a thousand people who suffer from epilepsy.
