TRAVEL World

Arriving at an island destination usually requires traveling by boat or airplane. But did you know that there are some islands you can reach on foot? These so-called tidal islands are connected to the mainland by a natural or man-made causeway that when exposed at low tide allows access for visitors to cross over. But these handy corridors are only revealed for a few hours each day and are submerged, sometimes quickly, as the tide comes back in. Be sure, therefore, to check tide times before exploring a tidal island, otherwise you're in for a long swim home!
